So, Whatever Happened to May?

OK, I confess.  I have been really lazy lately.  I did do a few things in May, but just never got around to posting on my blog.  So here is some catch-up:

 Los Alamos, NM

I spent several days in Los Alamos, NM.  My big reason for visiting here was to visit the  Bradbury Science Museum, The Manhattan Project National Historical Park Visitor Center, and the Los Alamos History Museum.  Unfortunately, all but the history museum were closed because of COVID-19, and I got frustrated trying to find parking around the history museum.

I did stay three nights in the White Rock Visitor Center RV lot, which is actually very close to things and nice.  Normally, the visitor center has shuttle buses to Bandelier National Park and is a good central place to stay because of water and electric hookups.

Since I was frustrated with museums in Los Alamos, I headed to Santa Fe, NM, which is not far away.

The Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, NM

There are several really nice museums in Santa Fe, plus a shuttle system for getting around this crowded city with narrow streets.  Unfortunately, the shuttle system was not running, and the only museum open was this one.  The other frustrating thing was that my favorite COE campground I like to stay at here was closed, so i tried a state park in the nearby mountains.  No cell service, however, so I left there early!!

I had not been to the Wheelwright museum, so it was an enjoyable couple of hours spent at this native American art museum.

I especially like the jewelry exhibit!

Santa Fe is a difficult city to drive a motorhome in, so I decided to head back to Albuquerque and the casino campground I had stayed at a couple of weeks ago.  No photos, but it is just a few miles west of Albuquerque and has large, paved camping sites and a very nice laundry facility.

Laundry has been difficult this year because many campgrounds have either closed their laundry rooms or never had them.  I am happy whenever I can find a campground with a laundry room open because I do not want to go to a commercial laundromat.

Next stop was Bluewater Lake State Park, in west New Mexico, close to the Arizona border.  See next posting for photos.
