7/22 Sisters, Oregon, and a Fish Hatchery

Sisters, Oregon, is a very pleasant "manufactured" pseudo-western town in about the middle of the state.  It is located in one of the most gorgeous, high-desert ponderosa pine forest anywhere.  Every building, even McDonalds, looks like a western building.

And obviously lots of upscale shops for owners of the nearby expensive homes and gift shops for the hoards of tourists.

There was a farmer's market the day we were there, and I took the opportunity to take photos of these metal sculptures.  This first one was fueled by propane. Not quite sure what it was supposed to be.

After visiting town, we went out for a walk to see the headwaters of the nearby river.

As you look at the next couple of photos, hum the theme song from the Ponderosa television show.  Made me think that Hoss and Little Joe should come riding up.

It was hard to get a good photo because it was so dark, but if you look closely, you will see water bubbling up from a spring.  This and other seeps nearby produce the entire large river.

And the river looking to the right, past the bubbling spring.

Squirrels are really hard to get to pose for photos, but these two were begging for food, which they did not get from us.
