12/14 Las Vegas

Along with the smoking which makes it very hard for me to go inside casinos, this smog is why I dislike Las Vegas:

After running my errands and getting my water pump checked, I headed into downtown to see the Christmas light display at Fremont Street.  This is the old area of Las Vegas that has a semi-cover of computer controlled lighting.  It is supposed to run every hour on the hour, but I waited forever and the 5:00 p.m. show never happened.

These girls were very young, maybe 18 or 19.  They stood around hoping someone would pay them to have their picture taken.  Actually, one older lady paid them to take their photo with her husband because it was his 60th birthday.  I did not take a photo, but it was pretty funny.  Since everyone was bundled up in coats and jackets, I'm sure this pair was very cold!

Another picture of the area.  There are big casinos on both sides and both long blocks.  In the area between, there were a lot of other people wanting pay for photos, including a fake Elvis and several fake rock groups.

The 6:00 p.m. show turned out to be a patriotic show.  I was tired of standing and hungry, so I headed back home via the shuttle that had brought me.  Wish I could have gone into a casino for some food, but the smoke was just too bad to do more than stick my head in a few feet.
