9/8 Drive from Banff to Lake Louise

Obviously, while these two towns are close together, there is a lot of terrific scenery between the two.  Actually, Banff is much larger than Lake Louise with a lot more places to stay, so a lot of people just stay in Banff and then take a bus to Lake Louise.

I stayed one night in the campground in Banff, but then chose to spend six nights in the large hard-sided campground in Lake Louise because I wanted to be able to spend more than one night there.  More about the campground later.

This is interesting because it is one of several wildlife bridges along the route.  You see a lot of these in the western United States, but I was impressed by how many trees and shrubs the Canadians plant along theirs.  These animal bridges prevent road deaths of wildlife crossing freeways, and they also make it easier for scarce types of animals to find unrelated mates.
