2/10 Gamble Rogers Riverside Campground

Gamble Rogers State Park has two campgrounds.  One in on the ocean and the newer one is across the highway along the inland waterway.  I have always in the past stayed in the ocean-front sites, but they are hard to get so I decided to give the riverside campground a try.  Sites are much bigger and farther apart, so you have a lot more privacy, although not quite as nice a view.

Here are some photos of the campsites here, but first, I took a photo of this Walmart sign on my drive to Flagler Beach.  It was apparently unoccupied, but when you are in Florida and see a nest on a tall pole, it is probably an osprey nest. They build huge nests and you will find a lot of signs and lighting poles have barbed wire or other things to deter ospreys from building nests on them.  But in some places, they have actually put up poles with flat platforms for the birds to use for nests.  If you can't beat them, join 'em!

Anyway, back to the campground:

This is the day use area of the state park.

Lots of places to walk around and enjoy the sunny day.  On the far side to the left is a boat launch.

There are several picnic pavilions for reservation.

And you can rent a canoe or a kayak.

This is a white heron.
