I have not posted in the last few weeks because I have been in visiting family mode instead of travel and sightseeing mode. I also spent several cold and rainy weeks in Oregon waiting to get some medical tests done, and am happy to say that all is well.
I am also happy to be away from the cold and rain of Oregon and Northern California for a few weeks, though I will be back with family for Christmas. I was able to drive on I-5 through the mountains in the south of Oregon and northern parts of California just before the big snow storm hit. I had been watching the weather and finished my last medical test, so I drove from Eugene, OR to Redding, CA, for an almost solid 8 hours. That night it snowed in the mountains and I-5 was closed in several sections because of heavy snow and ice. I was very happy not to be part of that.
Stopped once for gas, and that was it, for a total of 317 miles, which is a lot for me, since I normally try to stick to no more than a little over 200 miles per day. That may not seem like a lot when driving a car, but when you are handling a large (32' long), heavy (almost 15,000 lb) motorhome like mine is, it is tiring, especially considering my age. I ended up with a very sore thumb on my left hand from clutching the steering wheel so hard! Ditto for a sore back and stiff neck.
However, I am now in sunny, somewhat warmer Southern California and will be heading for the desert in a couple of days, so will be posting about that sometime next week. No rain for quite a while here, so everything is dry and brown, with lots of dust. Hopefully, they will get rain soon.
